A
festival of Holiday activities designed for the young at
heart in quaint Ogunquit Village, sponsored by the Ogunquit
Chamber of Commerce. Below is a rough idea of the schedule of events
based upon past years events. Only minor tweaks are made
from year to year. Pick up a complete schedule of events
when you get into town.
Saturday, December 1, 2012
FAMILY SCAVENGER HUNT: ALL WEEKEND! Go to the map page in the
brochure for a list of participants.
11am-2pm: SANTA’S WORKSHOP upstairs at the Dunaway Center. Nothing
says love like a handmade card, so you can make your own! You can
also write a letter to Santa, and do a variety of holiday crafts!
All supplies will be provided.
11:30am-1:30pm: COOKIE WALK (a special sale hosted by Ogunquit's
non-profits and restaurants) upstairs at the Dunaway Center. Pick up
a special treat for the ride home or for your dog-sitter!
12:30pm: YOUNG MAINE READERS HOLIDAY TEA at Jonathan's Restaurant
(92 Bourne Lane). Surprise guest. Many other prizes and surprises!
Children $10; adults $15. All proceeds will go to Young Maine
Readers.
1-6pm: HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE at Black Bear Fine Art Gallery,
Herringbones Design Shop, and Celtic Treasures (all at Thompson
Green, 309 Shore Road) Join us on this festive weekend for fine food
and drinks!
2-3pm: ICE SKATING PARTY Ogunquit Village School. Put on your skates
and enjoy the ice rink at the Ogunquit Village School. Cookies and
warm drinks will be provided. Weather permitting. (It must be cold
enough for the ice to freeze!)
3-6pm: WINE TASTING Perkins & Perkins (478 Main Street).
2-6pm: SANTA’S VILLAGE & HOUSE OF SCROOGE Ogunquit Village School.
What happens to the folks on Santa’s “Naughty” list? A lump of coal
is the least of their worries! A trip through Scrooge’s House will
convince you that you want to do whatever it takes to get on Santa’s
“Nice” list! House of Scrooge is not appropriate for children under
10. Already on Santa’s “Nice” list? Visit Santa’s Village to see the
elves at work! $5 for adults or $10 for the whole family!
8pm: MUSICAL THEATER upstairs at the Dunaway Center. The Gift of the
Magi, an original holiday musical set in depression-era Maine, is a
Christmas present for the entire family! Don't miss our "one night
only" live-theatre event with this professional touring company.
Tickets are $10 for adults/seniors; $8 for children and can be
purchased at the door or in advance at the Ogunquit Welcome Center
or online at Ogunquit.org.

10-11am: ORNAMENT MAKING Jackie’s Too (Perkins Cove). Make an
ornament to decorate the Rotary Park Christmas Tree! Refreshments
and supplies provided.
11am-12noon: TREE DECORATING Rotary Park in Perkins Cove. Ogunquit
Rotary Club and their helpers will decorate the Perkins Cove tree so
it will be ready to light next weekend!
11am-1pm: GINGERBREAD DECORATING CLASS Beachmere Inn (62 Beachmere
Lane). Each participant will receive a ready-to-decorate gingerbread
structure, endless decorating supplies, and instructional
information with two hours of hands-on gingerbread decorating. Class
and supplies: $25-$60 plus tax. Stay for soup and sandwich lunch for
additional $12. RSVP and deposit required: 207-646-2021 or

4-6pm: OGUNQUIT SPIRIT OF GIVING 6TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY at
Maine Street (195 Main Street). (FMI: www.ogunquitgiving.com) Sign up
to sponsor a child in advance, or bring a gift card to the most
awe-inspiring holiday party of the season. What does it look like
when a community brings together gifts for more than 500 needy
children? Join in to find out!
6-8pm: MARGINAL WAY PRESERVATION FUND MEATLOAF COMPETITION at
Bintliff's Restaurant (335 Main Street). Help preserve the Marginal
Way while trying a wide variety of meatloaves, then vote on your
favorite! Get your tickets in advance!

5pm-6:30pm: CHRISTMAS CAROLING Downtown. The local Daisy and Brownie
Girl Scout troops are earning a badge for caroling to the community
for 100 minutes throughout the weekend! Come out to support them in
their community service! Weather permitting.
5:30-7pm: SANTA’S VILLAGE & HOUSE OF SCROOGE Ogunquit Village
School. What happens to the folks on Santa’s “Naughty” list? A lump
of coal is the least of their worries! A trip through Scrooge’s
House will convince you that you want to do whatever it takes to get
on Santa’s “Nice” list! House of Scrooge is not appropriate for
children under 10. Already on Santa’s “Nice” list? Visit Santa’s
Village to see the elves at work! $5 for adults or $10 for the whole
family!
7-8pm: CONCERT “Encore” at Ogunquit Baptist Church. Encore is a
group of four local junior high students and their director. They
formed just to help out one time at a school talent show and then
the calls starting rolling in, so they decided to accept those
further offers and keep singing together!
8pm: CONCERT at Jonathan’s Restaurant (92 Bourne Lane). Join
Jonathan’s in celebrating “A Night Before Christmas” with Spyro Gyra.

8:15pm: TOWN TREE LIGHTING at Veteran's Park. Join us in caroling
and enjoy some warm drinks and cookies. Weather permitting.
8:30pm: BONFIRE at Main Beach. Rain date: Saturday, December 10.

10am-4pm: HAY RIDES at Veteran's Park. $5 per person. Weather
permitting.
9:30-11am: VISIT WITH SANTA upstairs at the Fire Station. Get there
a little early to see Santa arrive by fire engine. Ogunquit Camera
Shop will provide photos with Santa. Treats courtesy of Harbor Candy
Shop.
10am-3pm: BASEMENT BAZAAR downstairs at the Dunaway Center. Can’t
figure out what to get for that hard-to-buy-for person? Find a
little bit of everything and something for everyone at this bazaar.
10am-3pm: ANNUAL ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW at the Fire Station. Proceeds
benefit Ogunquit Fire Rescue.
10:30am-12noon: MATT TAVARES BOOK SIGNING at Animal Instinct (232
Main Street). Local children’s book illustrator Matt Tavares will
sign his new book, “Over the River and Through the Wood” and
“Gingerbread Pirates.”
10:30am-1pm: THE "GIVING TREE" SILENT AUCTION
downstairs at the
Dunaway Center. Theme-decorated artificial trees have been donated
by local businesses and individuals, to be silent auctioned. Be sure
to bid on the popular lottery tree! Proceeds go to Hospice of York.
11am-12noon: HOLIDAY STORYTELLING downstairs at Ogunquit Baptist
Church. Local storyteller Diana Abbott will read seasonal stories to
the little ones!
11am-4pm: MEET THE ARTIST at Abacus (213 Main Street). Come meet
Dana Heacock, the artist behind the Abacus calendar. Stop in to say
hello, get your calendar signed and view more of Dana’s artwork.
11am-1:30pm: CHOWDER & CHOCOLATEFEST upstairs at the Dunaway Center.
Restaurants compete for the coveted title of Best Chowder, Best
Soup/Stew/Bisque, and Best Chocolate at this annual event! Vote for
your favorite! Bring a donation for our local food pantry or animal
shelter. VIP early admission at 11am: $15 Regular admission
beginning at 11:30am: $10. Check visitogunquit.org for updates on
participants! As of November 10, participants include: Bintliff’s
Restaurant, Clay Hill Farm, Feile Irish Pub, Five-O/Caffe Prego,
Jonathan’s Restaurant, Katie’s on Shore Road, Roost Café & Bistro
and Sundaes at the Beach.
1pm: POLAR PLUNGE Main Beach. Come see our Ogunquit Ocean Rescue
Service "bear" the elements and perform their Polar Plunge into the
ice cold Atlantic on Ogunquit Beach! The Ogunquit Ocean Rescue
Service is raising money/toys for Toys For Tots. Please come down to
help support their cause and root them on!
1-5pm: OPEN HOUSE at Ogunquit Heritage Museum. 18th century
decorations, special Santa and angel exhibit, menorah exhibit and
holiday refreshments.
2-3pm: KIDS' ORNAMENT MAKING AND COOKIE DECORATING downstairs at
Ogunquit Baptist Church. We’ll bring the supplies; kids bring the
creativity!
3pm-6pm: WINE TASTING Perkins & Perkins (478 Main Street).
3-4pm: CHRISTMAS PARADE Main Beach to Perkins Cove. Presented by the
Village Spirit Committee. Weather permitting.
4-5pm: WANDERING MINSTREL in Perkins Cove. Wandering in and out of
the shops in Perkins Cove, this traditional minstrel will delight
you with familiar and traditional Christmas songs.
4pm or following the Christmas Parade: TREE LIGHTING & CAROLING at
Perkins Cove. We’ll be rockin’ around the Christmas tree with
caroling, cider and cookies in the Cove! Weather permitting.

6:30pm: LIVING MANGER at Ogunquit Baptist Church. Beautifully
performed by members of Ogunquit Baptist Church, this living
nativity reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. Weather
permitting.
7-8pm: CONCERT "Melodies & Memories" Barbershop Quartet at Ogunquit
Baptist Church. Back by popular demand, this quartet will delight
you with seasonal favorites, lead a sing-a-long, and teach a little
about harmony.

10-noon: MEET THE PHOTOGRAPHER at Spoiled Rotten (27 Beach Street).
Meet David Sullivan, the Ogunquit photographer featured at our shop,
and the creator of our Ogunquit Calendar. David will sign any of his
Ogunquit photos, posters, or calendars.
10am-4pm: HAY RIDES at Veteran's Park. $5 per person. Weather
permitting.
1-5pm: OPEN HOUSE at Ogunquit Heritage Museum. See Saturday

2pm: SOUTHERN MAINE CHRISTMAS PARADE in Wells. Wells Plaza to Wells
Junior High School.
